Wedding Reception in Provo, Utah

The Details

I always love taking a little time to photograph the details that make a wedding day uniquely yours! For Mia and Jake, I photographed Mia’s shoes and earrings, Jake’s boutonniere, and, of course, the gorgeous bouquet. And the sweetest part? Jake made the bouquet himself for his bride! How special is that?

I took these detail photos outside, using the natural greenery and little wood accents to create a soft, organic backdrop. I love how the colors and textures complemented the wedding day and gave these meaningful pieces their own moment in the spotlight. These are the little things that can be easy to overlook in the middle of a busy wedding day, but they’re so fun to look back on and remember all the thought that went into putting everything together.

the Luncheon

After the temple, everyone gathered for a lovely luncheon catered by BYU at a beautiful little church venue. The space was already charming, but Mia and Jake elevated it even further with fabric panels and a chandelier that made the room feel so much more elegant!

Everyone had time to gather, catch up, and enjoy being together before the reception festivities began. I especially loved that they had a head table for the bride and groom and their bridal party. It created such a sweet focal point for the luncheon while giving everyone a chance to celebrate together.

I love when couples make their wedding day feel personal while still creating space for their guests to relax and enjoy themselves. This was such a lovely way to bring everyone together after the sealing and spend a little more time with the people who mattered most to them!

The Reception

The reception was such a fun continuation of Mia and Jake’s wedding day! They added even more decorations to transform the space, along with photos from their engagement session.

I love when couples incorporate photos of themselves throughout their wedding decor. It gives guests a little glimpse into their story and makes the space feel even more personal. Between the added decorations and the thoughtful touches throughout the room, everything came together to create such a welcoming space for their friends and family to celebrate.

They also had some fun food and drink options for everyone to enjoy, including a soda station, an ice cream bar, and veggies with dip. It was such a great setup for a reception where guests could mingle, grab a treat, and enjoy the evening at their own pace!

Cake Cutting & Dancing!

After everyone had time to mingle, it was time for the cake cutting and first dances! These are such classic reception moments, and I love how they give the evening a little structure before the dance floor opens up.

Between the sweet cake-cutting photos and the first dances, Mia and Jake had a chance to celebrate together before inviting everyone else to join the party. And trust me, once the dancing started, the energy in the room was incredible!

This dance party was SO much fun! One of my favorite things was seeing how everyone joined in, from the grandparents to the little cousins. The dance floor was full of people celebrating together, and it was the kind of joyful, slightly chaotic fun that makes a wedding reception unforgettable.

Mia was intentional about choosing songs that meant something to the people attending, and I loved seeing how that brought everyone together. It wasn't just a playlist playing in the background; it was a chance for friends and family to sing along, dance together, and celebrate in a way that felt personal to the couple and their loved ones.

These are some of my favorite reception moments to photograph because there's no pressure to pose or make everything perfect. It's just people being themselves, having fun, and making memories together. From the biggest dance moves to the candid moments in between, this party had so much personality!

Sparkler Send Off

To end the night, Mia and Jake had a sparkler send-off! There's something so fun about gathering everyone together one last time to celebrate the newlyweds as they head off into this next chapter of life.

After a day filled with their temple sealing, meaningful details, family time, and a dance party that brought everyone together, it was such a sweet way to wrap everything up. Sparkler exits are a classic for a reason: they create a celebratory final moment and give the couple one more chance to soak in all the love surrounding them.

Mia and Jake’s luncheon and reception were full of thoughtful details, meaningful music, and so much joy. It was such a pleasure to document their wedding day and all the little moments that made it uniquely theirs!

Testimonials

Groom :

“Her photos were awesome we had her for our engagement photos too. I’m not a very photogenic guy but she is so natural with her photos I didn’t feel out of place at all and they’re all very authentic. The spreadsheet for photos she gave for the wedding was so well put together it made things seamless and there was no awkward moments where people could try and shove themself into a photo they weren’t supposed to be in. Alexis is super fun to be around and was great at taking real time photos during our reception, and was also just really helpful cause I’ve never been a groom before. She also made me and my lovely wife a drink. 10/10”
