Wedding at the Jordan River Temple in Utah

Bridal Photos

There’s something so special about taking bridal portraits at the temple before a couple goes inside to be sealed. We spent the early morning wandering around the Jordan River Utah Temple, capturing portraits of the bride and groom together before one of the most meaningful moments of their lives. Her gorgeous red curls were especially beautiful in the soft morning light, and the whole session felt so peaceful and full of anticipation.

One of my favorite things about taking bridal portraits beforehand is that it gives couples a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera before their exit. We can practice posing, find their natural rhythm, and figure out what feels most like them without the pressure of a busy wedding day. By the time they walk out of the temple, they already know what to expect and can focus on celebrating with the people they love.

And the lighting that morning? Absolutely perfect. We started early, before the direct sunlight hit the temple grounds, which gave us that soft, even light that makes portraits feel timeless and romantic. If you're planning your own temple wedding, I always recommend considering an early morning bridal session. It's a beautiful way to slow down, enjoy being together, and capture this special season before the excitement of the day begins.

After their sealing, the Diego & Taylor walked out to celebrate with their favorite people! One of my favorite parts of a temple wedding is watching the excitement as the newlyweds get to see everyone waiting for them. There were hugs, congratulations, and so many happy moments as they greeted family and friends and took a little time to soak it all in.

And, of course, they had to make a quick stop for a Swig drink before jumping into family and group photos! I love when couples make room for little moments like these throughout their wedding day. The timeline matters, but so does getting to be present, enjoy your favorite treats, and celebrate with the people who mean the most to you.

Once everyone had a chance to congratulate the newlyweds, we gathered for family portraits and group photos to capture all the people who came to celebrate their marriage. These photos are such a meaningful part of the day, preserving the faces and relationships that make this chapter of their story so special.

Temple Exit

Bridal Party Photos

After the temple exit and family photos, it was time to celebrate with the rest of their wedding party! The bridesmaids wore beautiful green dresses paired with the groomsmen’s classic black suits, creating such a timeless, elegant look against the Jordan River Temple grounds. I love how the greenery complemented the temple setting and added a soft pop of color to their portraits.

One of my favorite details from this wedding was the bride’s bouquet, which was made by her mom! There’s something so meaningful about incorporating handmade details from the people you love into your wedding day. It makes even the smallest parts of the celebration feel that much more personal.

Wedding party portraits are always such a fun part of the day. We captured a mix of classic group photos and more candid moments, giving everyone a chance to laugh, celebrate, and enjoy being together. These are the people who have supported you, cheered you on, and helped you get to this exciting chapter, so having photos with them is something you’ll treasure long after the wedding day is over.

Jordan River Temple Wedding Tips: Where to Take Big Group Photos

One thing to know when planning your wedding at the Jordan River Utah Temple is that couples typically exit from the back of the temple, and that area doesn't offer the most ideal space for larger family photos. If you're planning to take family and group portraits after your sealing, it's completely normal to head around to the front of the temple near the main entrance! Sometimes, if the lighting is good, there is a hill to the back of the temple, but it can be harder to get everyone there for a big photo.

I recommend keeping this in mind when creating your wedding day timeline. After the couple exits and has a few moments to greet their loved ones, you can plan to gather everyone and move to the front of the temple for family portraits. Having a designated location and a family photo list ready beforehand helps keep things organized and allows you to spend less time coordinating people and more time celebrating.

If you're getting married at the Jordan River Temple, don't worry if your exit and family photos happen in two different locations. With a little planning, you can still capture those joyful newlywed moments, all the important family combinations, and beautiful portraits with the temple as your backdrop!
