LDS Wedding Reception at Conrad Ranch up the Provo Canyon in Utah
Conrad Ranch
Conrad Ranch is such a gorgeous wedding venue tucked away in Provo Canyon! Clarissa and Cole’s September wedding was perfectly timed to take advantage of the beautiful fall colors, with vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows surrounding the property. The canyon scenery made such a beautiful backdrop for their reception and added that cozy, autumn feel to the entire evening.
One of my favorite things about Conrad Ranch is how many different spaces there are to explore. The property features a beautiful lake, a patio attached to the main house, a covered outdoor area across the pond, and a gazebo, along with plenty of open space to arrange tables, dancing, and other reception activities. There are so many ways to make the space your own!
For Clarissa and Cole’s reception, tables were set up for guests to gather, decorations created sweet details to enjoy as people walked through the property, and plenty of yard games gave everyone something fun to do throughout the evening. If you’re looking for a Utah wedding venue with beautiful outdoor scenery, room for guests to spread out, and lots of flexibility for your reception setup, Conrad Ranch is such a lovely option to consider.
The Details
One of my favorite parts of wedding photography is getting to document all the little details that tell a couple’s story. Clarissa and Cole’s flatlay was filled with so many meaningful pieces, each with its own story to tell. We included the gifts they exchanged with each other, along with the pin from Cole’s work that he wore on his suit coat. Clarissa also incorporated a piece of her grandmother’s dress into her wedding look, with beautiful flower-shaped pins in her hair. I love when brides find ways to carry a little piece of their family history with them on their wedding day!
Their cowboy boots added a fun, personal touch, and then there was Clarissa’s veil. She knew she wanted that veil before she had even found her wedding dress! I love when a bride has a detail she has dreamed about for years and gets to see it all come together on her wedding day. From family heirlooms to thoughtful gifts and personal style, these little details made their wedding feel uniquely theirs.
The Reception
One of my favorite parts of Clarissa and Cole’s reception was getting to see them surrounded by all the people they love. During his toast, Cole shared something so sweet about their wedding day. He loved that they had been able to get married up the canyon with just the two of them and their officiant, but the one thing missing from that day was their friends.
And that’s exactly what made this reception so special! After celebrating their marriage privately, they finally got to gather everyone together to share in the excitement. From catching up with friends and mingling with family to playing yard games and enjoying the beautiful canyon setting, the evening was all about celebrating the life they were building together.
I love that Clarissa and Cole made room for both experiences: an intimate wedding day that was just for them and a reception where they could celebrate with the people who have been part of their story. Their day was such a sweet reminder that your wedding doesn't have to look like anyone else's. You can make it your own and still find meaningful ways to include the people you love most.
Cake Cutting & First Dances
As the evening continued, Clarissa and Cole gathered everyone together for their cake cutting before moving into their first dances as a married couple in the gazebo. These traditions are always such a sweet part of a reception, giving everyone a chance to pause, celebrate the newlyweds, and share in a few more special moments together.
Throughout the reception, a slideshow of photos played in the background, adding a personal touch to the space and giving guests a glimpse into Clarissa and Cole’s story. I love details like this because they make the celebration feel even more personal, creating little moments for guests to reminisce, laugh, and connect with the couple’s journey.
Between the cake cutting, first dances, and time spent celebrating with friends and family, the evening was full of the kind of memories that make a wedding reception so special. After their intimate sealing at the Timpanogos Temple, it was the perfect way for Clarissa and Cole to celebrate their marriage with everyone they wished could be part of their day.
Dance Party
Once the formalities were over, it was time to turn up the music! Clarissa and Cole had a smaller group on the dance floor, but that definitely didn't stop anyone from singing their booties off. It turned into such a fun, spontaneous dance party, with everyone getting into the songs and singing along at the top of their lungs.
Clarissa’s best friend especially shone on the dance floor, seemingly knowing every single word to every song that played! Those are some of my favorite reception moments to photograph because nobody is worrying about how they look or whether they're doing the right dance moves. They're just having fun together and making memories.
The evening even included a song called “August” by Clarissa’s friend Natalie Harris, who had just released new music. How fun to have a friend’s song become part of the soundtrack to such a special night! Between the enthusiastic singalongs, the impromptu dance moments, and the people who made the celebration uniquely theirs, Clarissa and Cole’s reception ended on such a joyful, personal note.
Film Photography & Camcorder Footage
One of my favorite additions to Clarissa and Cole’s wedding was incorporating film photography throughout their day! There’s something so special about film that digital photography just can’t quite replicate. The nostalgic colors, soft grain, and slightly imperfect look give each image a timeless quality that feels like stepping back into a memory.
This wedding was also extra special because I got to introduce something new to my wedding offerings: my first camcorder wedding! The camcorder was passed around to Clarissa and Cole, giving them a chance to capture little moments throughout the day from their own perspective. The result feels like a home video in the very best way: candid, nostalgic, and full of personality. Instead of only seeing the polished highlights, they get to look back on the little snippets of their wedding as they actually experienced them.
Between the film photographs and the camcorder footage, their memories were documented in a way that feels almost like opening a time capsule. I love that these formats preserve not just what a wedding looked like, but what it felt like to be there. From the meaningful details and quiet interactions to the laughter, candid guest photos, and spontaneous dance party, Clarissa and Cole’s day was full of moments worth remembering for years to come!
