Engagements at the Alpine Loop in Spanish Fork Canyon, Utah
Some sessions feel magical before you even take the first photo, and Brooke’s fall engagement session was definitely one of them!
I first connected with Brooke because she had been following me on Instagram for a while, but we also had a fun little connection closer to home. She grew up in the same ward as my husband in Virginia! I always love when photography brings people together in unexpected ways, and getting to meet Brooke in person and capture this season of her life was so special.
For their engagement session, Brooke and her fiancé drove up the mountain ahead of time to find a spot they loved along the Alpine Loop near Spanish Fork Canyon. I had never been to their exact location before, so getting to explore somewhere new with them made the whole experience even more exciting. And honestly, they found the perfect spot,
Their Outfits
Fall was just beginning to settle into the mountains, and the scenery could not have been more beautiful. The aspen leaves had turned the most gorgeous shades of yellow, creating a golden backdrop everywhere we looked. There was just enough of a chill in the air to remind us that summer was coming to an end, while the afternoon sun brought in a little warmth that made everything feel cozy and peaceful.
The Alpine Loop is such a beautiful place for engagement photos, especially when the leaves begin to change. Between the golden trees, the mountain views, and the soft autumn sunlight, it felt like we had stepped into our own little corner of the world.
Their outfits complemented the setting perfectly, too! Their first looks fit right in with the warm mountain colors, and I especially loved Brooke’s second outfit. She changed into a simple white dress paired with short cowboy boots, and the combination was the sweetest touch. It brought a little personality and playfulness to the photos while still feeling timeless and effortlessly beautiful.
Engagement Prompts & Poses
One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is getting to capture both the sweet, classic moments and the playful ones that show off a couple’s personality.
We had so much fun experimenting with poses throughout the session! There were piggyback rides, running toward each other and spinning around, and plenty of those in-between moments where they could simply laugh and enjoy being together. Those little interactions are some of my favorites because they give couples a chance to forget about the camera and just have fun with each other.
Of course, we also made time for some of my classic engagement poses. Standing side by side, holding hands, linking arms, and leaning into each other might seem simple, but those are the kinds of photos that never go out of style. I love finding that balance between giving couples beautiful, timeless portraits and creating space for their personalities to shine through.
And with a setting as beautiful as this one, we had no shortage of opportunities to do both!
