4 Must-See Places in Arizona

Arizona has a lot to offer. Here are the four spots I hit on my travels this year! Locations include Pheonix, The Grand Canyon, and Sedona.

This past week I got the chance to go to Arizona with my family for Spring Break. Needless to say, it is my new favorite state!

We were road tripping from Utah, so we headed south from Provo and hit spots like The Grand Canyon, Sedona, Route 66, and Phoenix.

I highly recommend coming in April- the weather was incredible!

1. Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon was absolutely breathtaking, both in terms of beauty and cold. Normally in April the weather is perfect to visit the Grand Canyon, but a cold front had come in from Utah, so it was super windy and cold-literally taking my breath away.

We drove through the park and stopped at some of the overlooks on the way and then headed towards The Village for a trail they have that follows along the edge of the canyon. It has rocks every few steps that shows the evolution of the formation of the canyon. Every step you take on the trail is a million years.

There were many places for photo-ops and plenty of room on the trail for everyone!

After the trail, we headed back to a few gift shops and then stopped at a quick grab-and-go Cafe. BE WARNED- during lunch hours, the restraunts fill up quick and food at the shops is expensive.

2. Route 66

If you ever are in Arizona, one of your must-see stops has to be Route 66!

So nostalgic to the days when I used to watch Cars obsessively, this small pass-through town was just what we needed on the road trip for a stretch and walk.

Old gift shops, treats, and vintage cars are just a few of the things you will see if you drive through famous Route 66.

If you drive through Williams, Arizona, be sure to stop at Oh, Sweetie- the cutest treat shop  with the best brown sugar ice cream I have ever tasted.

3. Sedona

This small town city is my new favorite place. I swear it is a slice of heaven. It is the perfect blend of Arizona's notorious Red Rock, beautiful weather, and small city charm.

The town is most famous for its unique red rock formations and the city ordinance prevents building from being too tall, so you see the formation from practically everywhere.

We stayed in Marriott hotels for the duration of our stay, but I wish we had stayed in AirBnBs to get an even homely visit.

There is tons to do in Sedona, but I recommend going to downtown and trying the honey samples, taking a jeep ride, and just enjoying the beautiful weather.

Sedona is my new go-to town for vacations!

4. Pheonix

Pheonix has a ton to offer for everyone and is very kid friendly. Our favorite spots, recommended from locals, were Nemesis Club and Soda Jerk.

Nemesis Club is an escape room business created by someone who used to work at Disney, so everything was top notch.  Nemesis Club is behind Soda Jerk and has a 20's speakeasy vibe. You are given a code word to tell the Soda Jerk workers and they take you to a secret side door into the speakeasy inspired Nemesis Club.

*not my photo

Soda Jerk, the business front for Nemesis Club makes wild and yummy milkshakes overflowing with treats galore. I got the all cookies milkshake, even though I'm lactose intolerant. No regrets.

BONUS!

5. Arizona's Temples for the Church of Jesus Christ are some of the most beautiful temples in the world. While on our road trip, we had the privilege to visit the Mesa Temple for their Easter Pageant and the Gilbert Arizona Temple.

The Mesa Temple is inspired by the Hawaii Temple and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. Each side has a different color palate and the garden's are beautifully kept with native flowers from the region.

It's a personal goal of mine to photograph a wedding here and do bridals at the Mesa Temple.

Greece is a popular destination for weddings, with its stunning coastline, picturesque islands, and rich cultural heritage. If you're thinking of having a destination wedding in Greece, here are some tips to help you plan your dream wedding from a destination wedding photographer.

from a Destination Wedding Photographer

Greece is a popular destination for weddings, with its stunning coastline, picturesque islands, and rich cultural heritage. If you're thinking of having a destination wedding in Greece, here are some tips to help you plan your dream wedding. I LOVE Greece and getting married there is the ultimate Mamma Mia moment, but here are some helpful tips to know before you go from a destination wedding photographer and lover of Greece!

  1. Choose your location

Greece has many beautiful locations for a destination wedding. Some popular choices include Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Rhodes, and Athens. Consider the time of year you want to get married and what kind of setting you're looking for, whether it's a beach wedding, a cliffside ceremony, or a traditional Greek taverna.

  1. Hire a wedding planner

Planning a wedding from afar can be challenging, so consider hiring a local wedding planner who knows the ins and outs of planning a wedding in Greece. A wedding planner can help you with everything from choosing your location, to finding vendors, to handling logistics on the day of the wedding.

  1. Get your paperwork in order

If you're not a Greek citizen, you'll need to have all of your legal documents in order in order to get married in Greece. This includes your passport, birth certificate, and any divorce or death certificates if you've been married before. Your wedding planner can help you navigate the legal requirements.

  1. Choose your vendors

From photographers to caterers to florists, you'll need to choose vendors for your destination wedding in Greece. Your wedding planner can recommend vendors they've worked with before, or you can do your own research online. Keep in mind that some vendors may charge extra for travel and accommodation if they're based outside of your wedding location. If your budget is limited, only having a photographer will suffice. Now, I may be biased

  1. Consider cultural traditions

Greece has many cultural traditions that you may want to incorporate into your wedding. Some popular traditions include breaking plates, dancing the traditional Greek dance, and having a koufeta ceremony, where sugar-coated almonds are given to guests as a symbol of fertility, health, wealth, happiness, and a long life.

  1. Plan for transportation

If you're getting married in a remote location or on an island, you'll need to plan for transportation for you and your guests. This could include ferry rides, private transfers, or even hiring a helicopter.

  1. Embrace the local cuisine

Greek cuisine is delicious and diverse, so consider incorporating local dishes into your wedding menu. From moussaka to souvlaki to baklava, there are many options to choose from. You may also want to consider having a traditional Greek wedding cake, which is often a sponge cake with whipped cream and fruit.

  1. Enjoy the scenery

Finally, make sure to take in the stunning scenery and enjoy your time in Greece. Whether you're getting married on a beach, on a cliffside, or in a traditional Greek taverna, Greece is a beautiful location for a destination wedding. Make sure to take some time to relax and soak up the sun, sea, and culture.

In conclusion, planning a destination wedding in Greece requires some extra effort, but it's definitely worth it for the stunning scenery, rich culture, and delicious cuisine. With the help of a wedding planner, you can create the wedding of your dreams in this beautiful country.

How to Plan a Destination Wedding

Destination weddings have become increasingly popular over the years as couples opt for a more intimate, relaxed, and memorable experience for their special day, especially after this little thing called COVID. Whether you dream of getting married on a tropical beach, in a historic castle, or in the heart of the city, a destination wedding can make your dream come true. Here are my two cents as a destination wedding photographer-

  1. Choose your destination: Consider factors such as weather, accessibility, and the type of atmosphere you want for your wedding. Do you want a tropical beach setting or a more urban environment? Do you want a remote location or a place that's easily accessible for your guests? Once you've narrowed down your options, visit the destination and get a feel for the area to make sure it's the right fit for you.

  2. Determine your budget: Destination weddings can be more expensive than traditional weddings, so it's important to determine how much you can afford to spend before you start making plans. This will help you narrow down your options and determine the type of venue and vendors you can afford.

  3. Choose your venue: Once you've determined your budget, start looking at venues in your destination. Consider the size of the venue, the amenities it offers, and the services it provides. You may also want to consider the local laws and regulations regarding weddings in the destination, as some countries have specific requirements for foreign couples.

  4. Select your vendors: From photographers to florists, there are many vendors you'll need to choose for your destination wedding. Research local vendors in your destination, and read reviews and ask for recommendations from friends and family who have been married in the area. Make sure to communicate your expectations clearly with each vendor, and consider having a local wedding planner to help you navigate the process.

  5. Plan transportation and accommodations: Once you've chosen your venue and vendors, it's time to start thinking about transportation and accommodations for you and your guests. If your venue is in a remote location, you may need to provide transportation for your guests. Consider booking a block of rooms at a local hotel or resort, or consider renting a villa or beach house for everyone to stay in.

  6. Send out invitations: Once all the details are in place, it's time to send out invitations to your guests. Be sure to include all the necessary information, such as travel and accommodation details, local activities, and any other information that will make their trip more enjoyable.

  7. Prepare for the big day: Make sure to bring all the necessary items for your wedding, such as your dress, tuxedo, and any decorations or accessories. You may also want to consider hiring a wedding planner to help coordinate everything on the day of the wedding.

Destination weddings can be an incredible and memorable experience for you and your guests. By following these steps, you'll be well on your way to planning the perfect destination wedding that you'll never forget.

Destination Wedding Planning

A destination wedding can be a dream come true for many couples who want to celebrate their love in an exotic and beautiful location. However, before you start planning your destination wedding, there are a few things you need to consider to ensure your big day is stress-free and unforgettable.

A destination wedding can be a dream come true for many couples who want to celebrate their love in an exotic and beautiful location. However, before you start planning your destination wedding, there are a few things you need to consider to ensure your big day is stress-free and unforgettable.

  1. Choose the Right Location

The first and most important decision you need to make is where to have your destination wedding. Consider factors such as the climate, local culture, and accessibility when choosing your location. For example, if you want a tropical beach wedding, then a destination in the Caribbean or Hawaii might be a good choice. However, if you prefer a more historical and cultural setting, then consider a European city like Paris or Venice.

  1. Plan Ahead

Destination weddings require more planning than traditional weddings. You need to allow extra time for organizing details such as flights, accommodations, and vendor appointments. It’s also important to be aware of any legal requirements in the country where you plan to get married.

  1. Set a Budget

Destination weddings can be expensive, and it’s important to set a budget and stick to it. Consider the costs of flights, accommodations, wedding venue, food and beverages, and other miscellaneous expenses when creating your budget.

  1. Invite the Right Guests

Consider who you want to invite to your destination wedding and keep in mind that some guests may not be able to attend due to financial or scheduling reasons. Be mindful of the travel costs and time commitment involved when inviting guests to your destination wedding.

  1. Hire a Wedding Photographer

As a destination wedding photographer, I may be a touch biased, but think about it- the trip will end, the food will end up in…well, you know, and the flowers will wilt, but those photos will always be there! You want to make sure your wedding photographer has their shiz down!

  1. Consider the Timing

When choosing the date for your destination wedding, consider the weather, local events, and peak travel season. Some destinations may have specific peak seasons when prices are higher, and it may be more difficult to secure a venue or vendors.

  1. Be Prepared for the Unexpected

Despite all your planning, there may be unexpected events that arise during your destination wedding. Be prepared for these and have contingency plans in place to ensure your big day runs smoothly.

In conclusion, a destination wedding can be a magical and memorable experience for you and your guests. By considering the factors mentioned above, you can ensure your destination wedding is a success and a day you will never forget.

Winter engagements in Utah can be a magical experience, with snow-covered landscapes providing a breathtaking backdrop for your special day. However, the chilly weather can make it tricky to choose the perfect outfit that's both stylish and practical for your engagement session to celebrate you and your love getting married! Here are some tips to help you dress for your winter engagement session in Utah.

Utah Lake Engagements in February

  1. Layer up

Utah winters can be bitterly cold, so layering is key. Start with a warm base layer like thermal underwear, then add a sweater or cardigan. Finish off with a coat or jacket to keep the cold at bay. This way, you can easily adjust your clothing if you get too hot or too cold.

  2. Opt for warm fabrics

Choose fabrics that will keep you warm and cozy. Wool, cashmere, and faux fur are great choices for a winter engagement. They're not only stylish but also practical for keeping you warm in the cold temperatures. Additionally, consider wearing thermal leggings or pants to keep your legs warm.

  3. Choose practical footwear

Make sure your footwear is practical and warm for the winter weather. Boots are a great option for both style and practicality, with many styles available to match your outfit. Be sure to choose boots with good traction to prevent slipping on icy surfaces.

  4. Accessorize

Accessories can elevate your outfit and add some extra warmth. Consider a cozy scarf, hat, and gloves to keep you warm and stylish. Be sure to choose accessories that complement your outfit, rather than clashing with it.

  5. Stick to earthy tones

Winter engagement photos often have a natural, earthy vibe. Choose colors that will complement the winter landscape. Think earthy tones like beige, brown, green, or navy, which will blend in nicely with the surroundings.

  6. Don't forget your partner

Make sure your partner's outfit is also appropriate for the winter weather. Consider coordinating your outfits to create a cohesive look. You can even match your colors or choose complementary colors to make your photos pop.

In conclusion, dressing for a winter engagement in Utah requires a balance of style and practicality. Layer up with warm fabrics, choose practical footwear, accessorize, and stick to earthy tones. Don't forget to coordinate with your partner for a cohesive look. With these tips in mind, you'll be ready to create unforgettable memories on your special day.

How to Have a Beautiful Christian Wedding

A Christian wedding is a sacred and meaningful celebration that brings together two people in the bond of holy matrimony. As a Christian Wedding Photographer, here are my tips to help make the day as special and meaningful as possible.

A Christian wedding is a sacred and meaningful celebration that brings together two people in the bond of holy matrimony. As a Christian Wedding Photographer, here are my tips to help make the day as special and meaningful as possible.

  1. Seek guidance from scripture: A Christian wedding should be centered around the teachings of the Bible. Start by reading passages that relate to marriage, such as 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, which describes the characteristics of love. Also, consider including Bible verses that are meaningful to you and your partner in your ceremony.

  2. Choose a meaningful location: Many Christian weddings take place in a church, which provides a spiritual atmosphere and a connection to the community of believers. However, if a church setting is not for you, you can also choose a park, garden, or other outdoor location that has special meaning for you.

  3. Involve your pastor: Your pastor or minister will play an important role in your wedding. They can offer premarital counseling, help you plan the ceremony, and provide guidance on how to incorporate your faith into your wedding. After all, a wedding is the start of your marriage. Make sure not to get swept up in the chaos of planning a wedding and remember that your relationship with each other and God comes first.

  4. Personalize your ceremony: Your wedding ceremony should reflect your individual beliefs and values. You can add meaningful rituals, such as lighting candles, exchanging rings, or planting a tree to symbolize your commitment to each other.

  5. Incorporate music: Music is an important part of any Christian wedding. Consider choosing hymns or gospel songs that hold special meaning for you, or that you have a personal connection to. You can also ask a choir or soloist to perform during the ceremony. In high school, I sang with my chamber choir for an alumni’s wedding and it was incredible getting to be involved in such a special occasion.

  6. Include prayer: A Christian wedding should include prayer as a way to ask for God's blessing and guidance on your marriage.

  7. Focus on love: Above all, a Christian wedding should be focused on love. Love for each other, for God, and for all people. This love should be the foundation of your marriage, and should be celebrated on your wedding day and throughout your lives together.

Christian weddings are a beautiful and meaningful way to celebrate your love for each other and your commitment to God. By incorporating scripture, prayer, and meaningful rituals into your ceremony, you can make your wedding day a day to remember forever.

The Salt Lake Temple is undoubtedly the most famous and iconic temple in Utah. Located in the heart of Salt Lake City, this temple is a symbol of the Church and its pioneer heritage. Its beautiful stained glass windows, intricate carvings, and stunning gardens make it an ideal location for sealing ceremonies. A classic choice.

Provo City Center Temple

  1. Provo City Center Temple

The Provo City Center Temple is a beautiful example of adaptive reuse and probably my favorite temple EVER. Originally built in 1883 as a tabernacle, it was severely damaged by a fire in 2010. Instead of tearing it down, the Church decided to convert it into a temple, preserving the historic structure while making it a beautiful and functional space for temple ceremonies. The result is stunning, with a blend of old and new architecture, elegant details, and modern amenities.

  1. Bountiful Utah Temple

The Bountiful Utah Temple is located on a hillside in the beautiful town of Bountiful. The temple's design is inspired by the surrounding natural beauty, with its striking white towers and beautiful landscaping. The interior of the temple is equally stunning, with beautiful murals and intricate stonework.

  1. Payson Utah Temple

The Payson Utah Temple is a small but beautiful temple located in Payson. The temple's design is inspired by the local natural surroundings, with intricate stonework and beautiful gardens. The temple is a perfect place for a more intimate sealing ceremony.

In conclusion, Utah is home to some of the most beautiful temples in the world, and they provide a stunning backdrop for sealing ceremonies. Whether you prefer a traditional or modern design, each of these temples offers unique and beautiful settings to make your sealing ceremony memorable.

How to Elope in Utah

Eloping in Utah can be a beautiful and intimate way to get married without the stress of wedding planning, but it does come with it’s own challenges. By following these steps, you can plan a memorable and stress-free elopement in Utah that is tailored to your unique vision and relationship.

Eloping can be a romantic and intimate way to tie the knot, without the stress and expense of a big wedding, and Utah provides the perfect backdrop to do so! Here are some steps to help you plan a memorable elopement in the beehive state.

how-to-elope-in-utah-married-couple-bride-and-groom
  1. Decide on a location: The first step in planning an elopement is to choose a location. Consider what type of environment you envision for your big day and start exploring locations that fit that vision. With Utah’s diverse landscape, decide if the Red Rocks in St. George, mountains in Provo, streets of Downtown Salt Lake, or salt flats are the best fit for your special date.

  2. Choose your date: Once you have a location in mind, pick a date that works for you and your partner. Elopements are often more flexible in terms of scheduling, so you can choose a date that holds special meaning for the two of you or that fits your schedule.

  3. Obtain the necessary permits: Depending on the location of your elopement, you may need to obtain permits or licenses, especially if you are hoping to do something in one of Utah’s State Parks. Do some research on the requirements for getting married in your desired location and make sure you have everything you need in order to legally exchange vows.

  4. Invite your closest family and friends: While eloping typically means a smaller, more intimate wedding, you may still want to invite your closest family and friends to be a part of your special day. If so, make sure to give them enough notice so that they can make plans to attend.

  5. Hire an officiant: Unless one of you is ordained, you will need to hire an officiant to perform the ceremony. Look for someone who aligns with your values and beliefs and who can help create a personalized and meaningful ceremony for the two of you.

  6. Hire a photographer: An elopement may be more intimate, but you'll still want to capture the memories of your special day. I may be biased on this topic but, hiring a photographer to capture the moment is a great way to preserve the memories of your elopement for years to come.

  7. Make it official: After the ceremony, be sure to obtain a marriage certificate and have it filed with the appropriate government office. This will ensure that your marriage is legally recognized.

  8. Celebrate your newlywed status: Finally, take some time to celebrate your newlywed status! Whether it's a romantic getaway or a small gathering with family and friends, enjoy the start of your life together as a married couple.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS/Mormon) Wedding Planning

These are just a few tips to help you plan a wedding that is meaningful, memorable, and reflective of your faith. With careful planning and attention to detail, you can have a beautiful wedding that celebrates your love for each other and your commitment to the Lord.

A wedding is one of the most significant events in a person's life, and for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS or Mormon), it can be a particularly meaningful occasion. As a member of the church, there isn’t a lot of information about how to plan your wedding and what makes it different than weddings outside of our faith. If you're planning an LDS wedding, here are some tips to help make the day special and memorable!

provo-city-center-temple-in-utah

Provo City Center Temple in Utah

  1. Choose a temple for the ceremony: LDS weddings are performed in temples, not in churches or other venues (unless you choose to do a civil ceremony as well!). The temple is considered a sacred place, and the wedding ceremony is performed by a member of the priesthood. Before choosing a temple, make sure that you and your partner are both temple-worthy, meaning you are in good standing with the church and have made the necessary preparations, such as being baptized and receiving your endowment. Contact the temple and schedule a time that works best for the big day.

  2. Plan a reception: While the temple ceremony is the most important part of the wedding day it's also common to have a reception afterwards, especially if most of your family and friends aren’t members. You may do this at your local stake center which will help if you are on a lower budget, but feel free to have your reception wherever you think is best!

  3. Hiring Vendors: The 3 vendors I recommend hiring for your day are a photographer, wedding planner, and DJ. I may be a bit biased as a wedding photographer, but your photographer is the most important vendor you will hire for your day. The food will end up…well you know, the flowers will wilt, the party will end, but those photographs will be there forever! Make sure you invest in your photographer. With that being said, a planning a wedding can be a lot of work, and it can be helpful to have someone to guide you through the process. A wedding planner who is familiar with the church can be a great resource, helping you with everything from choosing a temple to coordinating the reception. Lastly, I recommend a DJ (especially if you don’t have either of the two above vendors). DJ’s help make sure the day runs on schedule and they make sure to keep people on the dance floor!

  4. Plan the music: Music can play a big role in an LDS wedding, both in the temple ceremony and the reception. Consider choosing hymns that are meaningful to you and your partner, and make sure to select musicians who are comfortable playing in a religious setting.

  5. Choose the right attire: In the temple, both the bride and groom are expected to dress modestly and in white. This can be a simple white dress or suit, or something more elaborate, like a traditional bridal gown. Outside of the temple, you are more than welcome to wear your dress dress or anything else! Some people even opt to get sealed in their temple clothes and change back into their wedding dress for the rest of the day.

  6. Focus on what's important: your wedding is about more than just the ceremony and the reception. It's about making a commitment to each other and to the Lord, and starting a life together as partners in marriage. As you plan your wedding, try to keep this in mind and focus on what's truly important.

These are just a few tips to help you plan a wedding that is meaningful, memorable, and reflective of your faith. With careful planning and attention to detail, you can have a beautiful wedding that celebrates your love for each other and your commitment to the Lord.

What To Wear For Your Engagement Photos

How to have effortless and timeless outfits that make you feel like you!

Engagement photos on a garage rooftop in Salt Lake City Utah with a couple in all black for their engagement and future wedding

It’s a time to celebrate your love and document this exciting chapter in your life!! Engagement sessions are my favorite sessions to photograph because it is often the first time you and your significant other have had photos taken together and it’s so incredible being able to document the beginning of forever! With that, it is normally to feel a little anxious about being in front of a camera, so it's important to feel confident during the session. Here are some helpful tips I give my couples before sessions.

  1. Coordinate, but don't match: One of the biggest mistakes that you can make during an engagement session is dressing in outfits that are too matchy-matchy. Unless you are very intentional about it, like the all-denim trend going around, it will feel like a flashback to the early 2000- and not in the good way. Instead, opt for coordinated outfits that complement each other but still have their own unique style.

  2. Dress for the location: The location of the engagement session can also influence what you should wear. Imagine the location is a painting and we are painting you into the painting- you don’t want to look out of place. If the session is by the beautiful Utah mountains, for example, wearing whites, greys, greens, and blues would compliment the colors already existing in the scenery. Fabrics that are more natural, like linen, and that flow more would be appropriate to highlight the beautiful breezy nature of the mountains. To contrast, if you are taking photos in an urban landscape, like downtown Provo, more edgy and contrast will make you look like you fit in. Leather jackets, fire dresses, and boots will compliment the straight lines and contrast in the city.

  3. Consider the season: The season in which the engagement session takes place will also play a role in what you should wear. If it’s summer, lightweight and breathable materials such as cotton and linen are ideal. Also keep in mind if you are extra sweaty; you want to be comfortable during the session and nothing is worse than knowing you have a pit stain. As a sweaty gal, antiperspirants are your best friend ;) If it’s winter, consider layers and warm fabrics. Hand warmers are also incredible.

  4. Choose comfortable shoes: Even if you have the most stunning outfit, make sure they are already broken in- you don’t want to get blisters. Choose shoes that you can walk and move around in comfortably, especially if the location requires a lot of walking or standing.

  5. Accessorize wisely: Accessorizing can add a pop of color and personality to your outfit, but don’t overdo it. Keep it simple with a few key pieces such as a necklace, earrings, or a scarf.

  6. Be yourself: Most importantly, wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident. This is your engagement session and it should reflect your personal style and the love that you share. I live by the 5-5 rule. If it is something that you have loved for the past 5 years and could see yourself loving for the next 5 years, that’s it!

engagement couple by the Provo mountains on BYU's campus

In conclusion, the key to a successful engagement session is to dress in outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable. There is no reason to buy something new! Wear what makes you- YOU! By following these tips and putting your personal spin on your outfits, you'll have beautiful and timeless photos to look back on for years to come.

Wedding Planning after getting Engaged!

Congrats! Now what?

Congratulations on your engagement! This is a exciting time and the start of a new chapter in your life!!! The engagement period can be both exciting and overwhelming, as there are many things to consider and plan for. And it’s okay if it gets a little hectic or stressful, THAT IS NORMAL! Here are some steps to guide you through the process.

Engaged Couple in all black for engagement photos in Utah
  1. Celebrate! Take time to enjoy the moment and celebrate with your partner, family and friends. This can be a small intimate gathering or a big celebration. Make sure to include this in your wedding budget!

  2. Set a wedding date: Decide on a date and make sure it works for both of you, your families and any key wedding vendors.

  3. Determine your budget: Having a budget in mind will help you make important decisions and prioritize what is important to you. There is so much in this, but my biggest tips are to pick the 3 biggest things that are important to you and your significant other and create a that reflects the things most important to you.

  4. Start the guest list: This will give you an idea of the size of the wedding and help with venue selection. Decide between you and your spouse if you want an intimate get together and are PARTA. And just because you have a smaller wedding doesn’t mean the cost will go down!! There are lots of vendors that happen regardless of your guest count (venue, photographer, decor, etc).

  5. Choose your wedding party: Decide who will be in your wedding party and ask them to be a part of your special day. This doesn’t mean you have to spend lots of money putting together bridesmaid proposal boxes or elebroate parties; I recommend taking them out somewhere to eat or dropping by their house to ask! If you are detail oriented, think about providing a small little contract so that they know what they are getting into/paying for.

  6. Start planning the details: Research wedding venues, photographers, florists, and other vendors. Make a list of the ones you like and start visiting and booking. Vendors often are booked months in advance, so start this process as soon as possible!

  7. Take engagement photos: Engagement photos are a great way to commemorate this special time and they can also be used for save-the-date cards, wedding website, or even your wedding album. Often times if you book a photographer for your wedding, they will give discounts on engagement sessions!

  8. Get in touch with your vendors: Contact the vendors you have chosen and start the booking process. This is also a good time to ask for referrals and recommendations from family and friends.

  9. Take care of the legalities: Start researching the requirements for getting married in your area, including obtaining a marriage license. This is something that is often overlooked in the budget, but make sure to save room for legal things! Also start considering if you are going to change you name and begin researching the process.

Enjoy the journey: Planning a wedding can be a long and at times stressful process, but it’s important to enjoy the journey and make it a positive experience for both of you. Remember to take some time for just the two of you, without talking about wedding planning.
